New Voices Concert

THIS SUMMER’S NEW VOICES PERFORMANCE WILL BE A VIDEO PRESENTATION CALLED,

“NEW VOICES 2020: PURE IMAGINATION”

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2020

In March of 2020, Paper Mill Playhouse was forced to close temporarily in response to the coronavirus pandemic and our Summer Musical Theater Conservatory moved to online. We used new ways to deliver musical theater instruction via Zoom, we leaned on our amazing faculty and creative staff, and we empowered our video-savvy students to tell their musical stories using an entirely different medium. …And, we reimagined our final presentation, New Voices, from a live stage concert to an inspiring video montage of work conceived and performed by our students. We couldn’t be prouder of the result! …Come With Me and You’ll Be in a World of Pure Imagination!

The annual “New Voices” performance is the culmination of Paper Mill Playhouse’s Summer Musical Theater Conservatory, and for the summer of 2020 it moved to a video format. Members of the competitive Conservatory who earned coveted spots in the Senior (ages 15–18), Junior Plus (ages 13–14), and Junior companies (ages 10–12) are directed by Paper Mill Playhouse’s professional artistic staff in this professionally produced, video project. The Summer Musical Theater Conservatory is a program of rigorous study allowing students to enhance their individual performance potential while developing a broad base of theater experience and knowledge. New Voices is an amazing opportunity to see the stars of tomorrow.

We are pleased to share an example of the work of our talented Summer Conservatory student body, who in the spring of 2020 united to prepare and produce, “Over The Rainbow”. This student-driven project demonstrates the talent, community and spirit of Paper Mill’s Summer Conservatory.
