ACTING & IMPROV

(ages 9-11)

A fun-filled introduction to theatre for the novice actor! Theatre games and improvisation exercises increase performance skills, awaken creativity, and encourage students to work with others to accomplish common goals

ALL-STAR PRODUCTION

(ages 9-12)

The All-Star Company rehearses two musicals (winter and spring) that tour to schools, hospitals, senior citizen residences, and other local organizations. The class is filled by audition only. Completion of Creative Drama I or II is a prerequisite to audition. SOLD OUT

BROADWAY BABIES

(ages 3-4)

Broadway Babies is an introduction to the world of theatre for our youngest students that will use music, movement, and improvisation to create fun-loving characters and bring stories to life.

BROADWAY DANCE STYLES

(ages 10-13)

This class teaches the language of dance through Broadway show choreography and develops the student's strength, flexibility, coordination and rhythm.

CREATIVE DRAMA I

(ages 9-11)

Students participate in theatre games, improvisation and scene studies that encourage creativity, self-expression, and self-confidence. In the spring, they perform a play that incorporates the skills learned and introduces elements of scenery and costumes.

CREATIVE DRAMA II

(ages 9-11)

Self-discovery for the actor continues in scenes, songs and more advanced acting exercises. Students also perform a scripted play or musical with costumes and scenery.

INTRO TO ACTING

(ages 6-7)

Students use role-playing and basic creative drama exercises to bring scenes and stories to life. Children should have reading skills. A great opportunity to make new friends while developing self-confidence.

MASTER CLASS SAMPLER

(ages 9-11)

Mix it up with a sampling of two-hour theatre and dance master classes offered Monday evenings. Explore “Agents & Auditioning” in September, “Stage Combat” in October, “Musical Theatre Auditioning” in November, “Mime & Movement” in January, “Stage Makeup Essentials” in February and “Broadway Choreography” in March. MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP

(ages 6-11)

Musical theatre performance is more than a pretty voice; it’s acting through a song. Students explore how to interpret and connect to the lyrics to tell the story in the song. Selection of appropriate material for auditions and performance will be stressed, along with basic vocal technique and breath control. Staged musical numbers will also be introduced.

PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS

(ages 8-11)

Individual attention helps students learn breath control and vocal placement in a nurturing one-to-one environment. Exercises are used to strengthen and protect the voice and both popular and theatre songs are rehearsed. Lessons are 30 minutes each.

SHOWTIME KIDS

(age 8)

Students will learn the step by step process of putting on a production from casting to the final presentation. They will learn the importance of characterization, rehearsals and working together as an ensemble.

STORY BOOK THEATRE

(age 5)

A wonderful introduction to the world of theatre for the imaginative child, the class brings favorite fairy tales and characters to life through music, movement, and pretend play.

THEATRE FOR EVERYONE AutismRibbonwhlchr p

(ages 7-18)

In collaboration with VSA-NJ, an organization which provides a wide array of arts programming for children & adults with all types of disabilities, this class will include theatre improvisation, storytelling, music, movement, and some visual art. The series will creatively address and include diverse learning styles and modes of communication. When applicable, a student's attendant, who may be a parent, caregiver, nurse, personal aide, or sign interpreter, is welcome to stay for the class. The course will end with a fun sharing for family and friends. Typical siblings are welcome at no extra cost.
